You're an adult who's always wanted to learn how to play drums?

It's amazing how many times I hear people say they wish they'd tried to learn to play an instrument, or that it's too late now, and they're too old to learn.

Trust me, it's never too late to start learning how to play drums or any instrument.

Sure, It might take a little longer for things to sink in than a younger you, but that isn't a reason to deprive yourself of the opportunity, doesn't mean you're not capable and it certainly doesn't mean it will be any less fun or rewarding.

You're a young person or a parent with a son or daughter who are interested in playing drums?

Awesome! As much as you're never too old, you're also never too young to start either!

If there's an interest and curiosity in playing any musical instrument then, in my opinion, it should be explored.

Maybe drums won't be the instrument of choice in the end, maybe it will be Piano, or Guitar or Flute, who knows, But playing an instrument and having music in your life will always be a good investment, and who knows where it may lead!

My son/daughter is a little nervous, can I sit in the lesson with them?

Absolutely! Sometimes this can be a great thing to do, especially for the first 2 or 3 lessons whilst we get introduced and get to know each other a little bit.

Indeed whilst you're here, why not learn alongside to help support them?

This may only be a short term thing during the initial stages and to help settle the nerves, but it's a great way to support them and can be a fun experience to share! Who knows, you may really like it and want to continue with your own lesson!

In this combined format, I offer 25% discount off the total of the 2 lessons!

Are you D.B.S (Formerly C.R.B) Checked & Certified?

I'm glad you asked and yes I certainly am.

Indeed to be able to teach and work with children, it's necessary to pass the enhanced D.B.S checks of which I have.

As a father myself and coming from a family who work within education and healthcare, I was very much aware of how important it was to get this in place to demonstrate to you, that coming to learn with me is safe, and that I take it very seriously.

What are some of the benefits to learning an instrument?

Daily life can often be hectic and stressful regardless of age. School work, exams, business meetings and so on, they all take their toll on us physically and mentally.

Playing an instrument can be a great way to step away from the daily grind, step away from the screen and media and give yourself a chance to unwind and have some fun, something that too often we do not allow ourselves.

Although music is my life, to this day I still use it as an outlet to find some peace and positivity,

it's the gift that just keeps giving!

There are of course also the social benefits to music and playing an instrument to consider.

I've met so many wonderful people through music and made many many friends! Music is an awesome community whether it's playing in bands, going to gigs & musical theatre or just talking about it with your mates!

Nervous about taking the first steps?

First of all it's important to know that most people feel nervous doing something new, it's a pretty natural feeling regardless of age, and trust me I know this as well as anyone.

I still get nervous walking on stage from time to time, and I have no idea why!

I'm not going to say don't be nervous, being nervous is absolutely fine, just don't let ther nerves stop you from moving forward and giving this wonderful instrument a shot.

Also, as mentioned above, it's totally cool for parents to sit in on those initial lessons, or indeed join in the fun!

The Lessons

30 Minutes

30 minute lessons are particularly well suited to younger players who are just starting out.

The 30 minute duration focuses on smaller chunks of information,  which can be easier to absorb and importantly retain.

This means the lessons can be productive, enjoyable and importantly good fun.

This also hopefully encourages for some home practice and wanting to bounce back through the door for the next lesson!

£20.00

45 Minutes

A 45 minute lesson is a great duration for younger players if wanting to push one a little, but also perfect for high school ages and adults. It allows for us to spend some extra time on those smaller chunks of information and really nail them down, or it can offer us the option to add something extra into your learning.

There may be weeks where you really nail it, so we can move on a little, but some weeks you may need that extra time on that one thing, so this duration is perfect for all ages and bridges the gap between the 30 and 60 minute lesson perfectly.

£30.00

60 Minutes

One hour lessons tend to be suited best towards high school ages and upwards, although they're not exclusive to that age group.

The duration gives us the option to split the lesson into two or three areas of learning, or if needed, spend time focusing on that one thing that needs to be nailed down.

This is why I tend to recommend this duration for high school ages and upwards as maintaining focus levels for an hour can be tricky, especially  for younger players, and if those levels drop, it tends to effect the enjoyment of the learning and means the extra time you're investing in is actually counter productive and can take the enjoyment away, which is never a good thing.

£40.00

The studio is situated between Leeds & York, not too far from the famous brewery town of Tadcaster.

The full address will be shared during the lesson booking process.
